West Coast Swing has rapidly grown in popularity in recent years.
This is due in no small part to the impressive media presence of professional dancers.
WCS is a partner dance style that originated in California in the 1940s.
It is characterised by smooth, narrow movements, with partners moving up and down a narrow rectangular area on the dance floor, known as the slot.
The dance is usually performed to contemporary music such as Blues, R&B, and Pop, and allows for improvisation and individual interpretation of the music.
The style is often seen as playful and less formal than other ballroom dances.
