West Coast Swing: The Trendy Dance from the USA
West Coast Swing is considered one of the most fashionable dances in the USA and has now found a firm place in Europe, especially at our Bode Dance School in Böblingen. This elegant partner dance can be danced to almost any 4/4 music, including Blues, R’n’B, Funk, club sounds, and Swing.
The special features of West Coast Swing are its linear dynamics (slot), flowing movements, and breathtaking turns. These characteristics make it one of the most elegant and versatile dances. The rhythmic variations and syncopations allow couples to interpret the music individually and express their creativity.
Bode Dance School: A Tradition of Excellence in Dance Teaching
Bode Dance School in Böblingen looks back on a long and successful history. Since its founding in January 1961, the dance school has continuously developed and now offers a wide range of dance courses for all age groups.
History of the Dance School
In 1961, the dance school was registered with the Böblingen trade office, and the first dance course for adult couples took place in the Bärensaal, which is now known as the “Hendlhous”. From 1964, the Schönbuchsaal became the regular teaching room for many years. In Geleener Straße, our parents built a house with a 100-square-metre dance room in the basement, making us less dependent on the Schönbuchsaal and allowing us to expand our offerings.
In 1983, the dance school moved to the second floor of the Klett building on Bahnhofstraße, where 520 square metres were available for rent. After extensive renovations, the grand opening took place in January 1984.
In 2004, our father handed the dance school over to us, his children, and we hoped to remain in the Klett building permanently. However, after almost 30 years, we had to move again due to the sale and planned demolition of the building. After two years of negotiations, we found a suitable space in the KaufCentrum that met all requirements.
Modern Facilities and a Wide Range of Courses
Today, in the KaufCentrum, we offer four bright and modern dance rooms, a welcoming bar, and spacious changing rooms. This new infrastructure allows us to offer even more courses and expand our teaching team. A total of twelve teachers are ready to provide you with a varied dance programme.
Whether ballroom dancing for adults and students, dance circles, jazz dance, hip hop, breakdance, or ballet – you will find the right course with us.
