Privacy Policy
Legal Notice: This page is provided for convenience in English. However, the only legally binding version is the German Privacy Policy (Datenschutzerklärung). In case of any discrepancies, the German version shall prevail.
Data protection is particularly important to me. This privacy policy informs you about what personal data is collected when you visit this website or when you subscribe to the newsletter, and how I handle it.

2. General Data Processing
wcsstuttgart.dance is a static website that does not set cookies and does not directly collect or store personal data about visitors.
The website is hosted on servers of netcup GmbH (Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe). A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR is in place with netcup. netcup employees do not have direct access to the data processed in my applications.
3. Web Analytics with Plausible Analytics (Self-Hosted)
To analyze visitor numbers, I use Plausible Analytics, which I host myself on my own infrastructure. Data is therefore not transmitted to an external analytics service.
Data Processed:
- Accessed page (URL path)
- Referrer (which page you came from)
- Browser type and operating system (general, without exact versions)
- Device type (desktop/mobile)
- Country (anonymized based on IP, which is discarded afterwards)
Data NOT Collected:
- IP addresses (neither stored nor logged)
- Cookies or browser fingerprints
- Personal identifiers
Legal Basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest). My legitimate interest is to understand website usage in order to improve content and functionality. Since Plausible does not store personal data, the impact on your rights is minimal.
Storage Duration: Aggregated statistics are stored indefinitely; they contain no personal data.
4. Newsletter
On the Newsletter page you can subscribe to my newsletter. Processing is handled using the self-hosted open-source software Listmonk.
Data Processed:
- Email address (required) – for newsletter delivery
- Name (optional) – for personalized greeting
Purpose: Sending a weekly newsletter with information about events, workshops, and news from the West Coast Swing Community Stuttgart.
Legal Basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a GDPR (consent). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.
Double Opt-In Procedure: After you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email with an activation link. Your email address is only added to the mailing list after you click this link. This ensures that no one can be added to the distribution list without your consent.
Storage Duration: Your data is stored as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter. After unsubscribing, your data is deleted (a “blocklist” mark may remain to prevent accidental re-subscription).
Unsubscribe: Every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing phillip@wcsstuttgart.dance.
Sharing with Third Parties: Your data is not shared with third parties. The Listmonk application runs on netcup servers (see Section 2); netcup does not have application-level access to stored data.
5. Server Logs
When you access the website, technically necessary connection data (e.g., requested file, time, amount of data transferred) is briefly processed in volatile logs by the web server. IP addresses are not permanently stored and are not evaluated for profiling purposes. Processing is solely for the technical provision and security of the website.
Legal Basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in secure website operation).
6. External Content
On some pages (e.g., home page, WCS page), YouTube videos are loaded on click. These videos are only embedded after you have actively clicked on the preview image. Before that, no data is transmitted to YouTube/Google. Once you load the video, Google’s privacy policies apply.
7. Your Rights
You have the following rights at any time regarding your personal data:
- Right to information about data stored regarding you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Right to rectification of incorrect data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Right to erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Right to restrict processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Right to withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 Abs. 3 GDPR)
